The Brunella Fortress

The Brunella Fortress ( perhaps it takes its name from the colour of the rock on which it stands ), is a powerful quadrangular construction typical of the fortifications built to protect against fire-arms. It was built at the beginning of the 16th century and may have been designed by Giovanni Dalle Bande Nere.
It is surrounded by an interesting botanic park and is the seat of Lunigiana's Natural History Museum.
